The Psychology Of Guilt
September 13, 2009 - 00:06 — sandeepThe Psychology Of Guilt
- Most people have been taught to feel guilty since childhood.
- Guilt can be used to manipulate your behaviour.
- The need for external approval makes guilt work.
Most people have, at some point in their life, been conditioned (learnt) to feel guilty. This guilt usually came from family, friends, society and/or religion who consciously or unconsciously, taught us to feel guilty for thinking or acting in a certain way.
Take childhood for example. As children we were constantly reminded of our bad behaviour, and when we did something wrong, we were told by our parents or teachers how “disappointed” they were in us.

The tragic incident involving Dr. Y S Rajashekhar Reddy (YSR)
September 7, 2009 - 20:34 — shilpaThe tragic incident involving Dr. YSR, Dr, Subramanyan (IAS), John Wesley (CSO), Group Captain S.K. Bhatia and M.S. Reddy shook the nation this week.
Dr.YSR, no doubt, had risen as a colossal figure in AP politics. He was perceived as a people’s man and almost liked by everyone irrespective of their party affiliations. In an unprecedented move, even neighboring states of AP, like TN and Karanataka declared a holiday in mark of their mourning.
While several investigations would happen from now-on for uncovering the technical and non-technical aspects of this incident, the humane aspect of this incident may or may not be uncovered.
The prime technical aspect of this incident ofcourse is the non-functioning of ELT, which seems to have become a name-sake non-functioning device in most of the choppers. It was introduced few years back and typical of the Indian attitude, unless a stick is wielded, its implementation is lax and procedural. The secondary technical aspect is the usage of SMS to detect the site. read more

History of Friendship Day
August 3, 2009 - 00:00 — sandeepHistory of Friendship Day
The tradition of celebrating Friendship Day began in 1935 when the US Congress decided to dedicate a day in the honor of friends.
Though it is not known exactly what were the reasons that went into the making of this day,
the retrospection of the world scenario of those times can lead us to an understanding.
With the devastating effects of the First World War still showing and increasing hostilities, mistrust and hatred between countries providing the perfect conditions for another imminent battle, there was a greater need for friendship and camaraderie not only among nations
but also among individuals.
Hence, the US Congress decided to designate the first Sunday of the month of August as Friendship Day and with a formal proclamation in 1935, officially declared the occasion a holiday dedicated in the honour of friends and friendship. Since then, celebration of National Friendship Day became an annual event. The lofty idea of honoring the beautiful relationship of friendship caught on with the people, particularly the youngsters all over the country, and in no time Friendship Day became a highly popular festival. read more

Name Brand Women’s Shoes
July 14, 2009 - 18:36 — danneyThe question is, why are women so addicted with shoes? Well, there’s no specific answer for that. There’s this something in the feminine shell of consciousness that makes women squeal every time they see a new design for a high heel or even, a sneaker on press release, TV and magazines (for Pete’s sake, that’s the exact reason why they buy magazines!).
Take note, these new designs( new design women shoes in www.centurywiki.com )don’t even come once in every blue moon. In fact, there are almost always new designs for shoes being announced every day, yet women still go gaga whenever they see a new one on TV (most especially designs from name brand women’s shoes and from world-famous almost-exclusive-to-celebrities shoe designers like Patrick Cox and Stuart Weitzman). read more

STORY OF THE WALLET
July 6, 2009 - 11:32 — lovelyOnce an old man was traveling by train on a pilgrimage to Brindavan. At night, whilst he was asleep, his wallet fell from his pocket. A co-passenger found it the next morning and enquired as to whom the wallet belonged. The old man said it was his. A picture of Sri Krishna inside the wallet was proof that the wallet really belonged to him.
The old man then began to relate the story of the wallet. He soon had a group of eager listeners around him. Lifting up the purse for all to see, the old man said: This purse has a long history behind it. My father gave it to me years ago when I was a mere schoolboy. I kept my little pocket money in it and also a photograph of my parents.
Years passed. I grew up and began studying at university. Like every youth, I became conscious of my appearance. I replaced my parents' photograph with that of my own and I would look at it often. I had become my own admirer. read more

The Patient Poor Man
July 2, 2009 - 16:32 — cutegirlThere was a rich old noble who lived in a great palace. There also lived nearby a poor man in a dilapidated hut, who subsisted on crumbs of food cast away by others. But he was ever cheerful, and never complained of his ill-luck.
Once it so happened that the poor man had nothing to eat for a long while. So he went to the rich noble for help. The old noble received him kindly and asked what for he had come. The poor man said that for days he had nothing to eat and that he would be happy if he was given some food. "Is that all!" said the noble. "Come, sit down!" Then he called-out; "Boy! A very important guest has come to dine with me. Ask the chief to make ready the dinner at once, and bring some water to wash our hands." read more
