Skype is back (for some); damage to reputation is done
August 17, 2007 - 20:43 — sandeepSkype apparently is back online now for some–test calls seem to work without issue. Unfortunately the damage to Skype’s reputation is done.
Whether Skype’s outage was due to an exploit or an algorithm doesn’t really matter. What matters is there were small businesses that actually depended on Skype and were let down. I’d certainly think twice before relying on Skype. read more

World of Romance
August 17, 2007 - 08:15 — sandeepIn the world of romance, one single rule applies: Make the woman happy. Do something she likes, and you get points. Do something she dislikes and points are subtracted. You don't get any points for doing something she expects. Sorry, that's the way the game is played. Here is a guide to the point

A rough passage to Independence
August 17, 2007 - 08:10 — shilpaNothing can be more futile than an argument on who was responsible for the Partition of the subcontinent. With the sequence of events stretching back 60 years, such an exercise can only be an academic distraction. But it is clear that the differences between Hindus and Muslims had become so acute by the beginning of the Forties that something like Partition had become inevitable.
To those who regret the division, I can only say that the British could have probably kept the subcontinent united if they were willing to ladle out more powers in 1942 when Sir Stafford Cripps tried to reconcile the demand for Independence within his limited brief. The Congress party could also have avoided the division if it had accepted in 1946 the Cabinet Mission proposals of a Centre with limited powers and zonal and provincial autonomy. But these are ifs of history, which at best are hypothetical and at worst subjective. read more
